The idea of an electric bike is based on a combination of a set of hardware parts and a software that manages these parts
Based on this idea, the existence of a problem in the software will lead to a malfunction or a group of malfunctions in the hardware parts.

To be more precise, there are two main parts, if a software problem is found in them, it can affect the performance of the electric bike in general.
These parts are the controller and the battery (BMS).
Each of these parts is managed by a different software, and accordingly, we will explain how REST works for each part (in two separate articles)

This post will be devoted to making a reset for the controller

How to reset Ebike Controller (Soft Reset)

In order to do a reset for the controller, there are two values that can be changed (depending on the type of your bike). The first value is C10, which is responsible for resetting the factory settings for the controller, so that the controller will re-identify all parts of the bike and apply the default settings to it

In the bicycle dimension, there are no settings for C and there are settings for P only. In this case, you will need to go to P 16 and then set the value to 0

Now let us explain the two methods

Soft reset to Ebike controller using P16 Parameter.

1-Turn on your ebike

2-Press and hold (+) & (-) in the same time for 3 Sec to enter your ebike settings.

3- keep pressing on the power Button till you reach P16

4-Press the (-) button for 5 Sec.

5-You should see the LCD flashes with 0 values.

6-Press and hold (+) & (-) in the same time for 3 Sec to save & exit.

Soft reset to Ebike controller using C10 Parameter.

1-Turn on your ebike

2-Press and Hold UP & Down Button to enter your ebike settings.

Press and Hold UP & Down Button to enter your ebike settings.

3-using the function button (the middle button) navigate to C10

4-Using up & down button set the value to “Y” to reset your ebike controller .

5-To save & exist: press & hold up & down button.

6-turn off your ebike then turn it on.

How to Hard reset your ebike controller?

In order to make a hard reset for the controller, your controller must be in the self-learning feature, which is a feature that responsible for to functions on the ebike.

  • 1-Phase learning which synchronize the phase of the motor with the controller.
  • 2-define the direction of the motor


This feature has a dedicated cable that has two plug connected to each other in the controller

to make hard reset follow the below step.

  • Lift the bike off the ground completely (because the motor will work automatically during the reset)
  • Take out the controller
  • Select the self-learning cable (you will find a cable that is not connected to any other part of the bike and is only connected to each other as shown in the picture)
  • Unplug the cable and you will notice that the motor rotates automatically
  • Reconnect the cable and make sure that the motor rotates clockwise. If it is found that the motor rotates counterclockwise, disconnect the cable again and reinstall it.

After performing the previous steps, you will have completed the hard reset process for the ebike controller.

Conclusion.

In order to reset the electric bike controller, press the up and down buttons together for three seconds and adjust the C10 settings, the “Y” value, or select the “P16” settings, then press the down button or (-) for 5 seconds.

To make a hard reset, disconnect the self-learning cable, then reconnect it again
