The electric bike throttle is a great aid for people who do not want to make any effort while riding an electric bike, so it is important for a large group of electric bike owners

For me personally, as a person who loves electric vehicle maintenance, I find special pleasure in repairing the throttle because it is easy and also inexpensive.

For example, the price of a good throttle on Amazon ranges between 14 to 30 dollars, but did you know that it is possible to completely change the internal components of the throttle at a cost of no more than one dollar!

The reason for this is that all that is inside the throttle is the S49E sensor, the price of which does not exceed one dollar

For this and for fans of repairing electric bikes at home, I will dedicate this post to how to test and replace the twist throttle sensor in an electric bike.

What are the required tools to Test\Replace ebike throttle sensor?

Before we start explaining how to replace the sensor, we should be prepared with the necessary tools, and it is good that we will not need many or complicated tools.
We will need the following:

1- A screwdriver to open the throttle
2- A multimeter
3- Sensor s49e
4- A soldering iron
5- Grease
6- 5 volt power supply (we will also explain how it works in this section)

How to make 5volt input source?

In order to make a 5 volt power supply, we will need 3 AA batteries and connect them together
The steps are as follows:

Bring a tape to stick the batteries to it, noting that the connection is in a row – + –

Attach the batteries tightly with tape.

Connect the negative end with a white power cord, then connect the positive end with a black power cord, and now you have a 5 volt power supply.

How to test twist throttle sensor on an eBike?

In this part of the post, we will explain how to test and replace the throttle sensor in an electric bike

Testing Ebike throttle with Multimeter.

1- Set your multimeter to 20v.

1- Set your multimeter to 20v.

2-Connect your ebike throttle to the 5v source.

2-Connect your ebike throttle to the 5v source.

Connect the black multimeter probe to the black wire in the throttle, then connect the red probe to the green wire and notice the multimeter reading.

Connect the black multimeter probe to the black wire in the throttle, then connect the red probe to the green wire and notice the multimeter reading.

In order to make sure that the throttle sensor is working, the multimeter reading must change with the throttle twisting, which will range from 0 to 4.7 volts.

But if you find the reading constant, this indicates that the sensor is not working well, and you should change it, which we will explain in the next part below.
