Can you disable throttle on an ebike? (HW & SW)

Sometimes you may need to disable the throttle in your electric bike, and this may be because you will depend on the PAS completely in order to make more effort and lose extra weight, or because you are trying to troubleshoot a problem in your ebike and want to disable the throttle

In the end, whatever the reason that makes you want to disable the throttle, you will need a safe and correct way to ensure the safety of your electric bike

In this post, I will share with you ways in which you can properly and safely disable the throttle on your electric bike.

Can you disable throttle on an ebike?

As a general rule, YES, you can disable the throttle on your electric bike by disconnecting its cable or adjusting the

“P 10” setting to the value “1”.

How to Disable throttle on Ebike? (Software Method)

As we mentioned in the introduction to this post, we will share all the safe ways through which throttle can be disable, and they are exactly three ways.

The first is through the advanced settings in the bike or the “P settings”

The other two ways are via hardware.

in this part we will explain the steps of disabling the throttle using the software method

Step 1: Power on your ebike then ,press & hold (+) & (-) buttons for three sec.

Step 2: Using power button navigate to P10 setting.

Step 3: Set the P10 value = (0)

The P10 settings consist of three values:
0: It means that the bike will depend on the PAS and cancel the throttle
1: It means that the bike will depend on throttle and cancel the PAS
2: means that the bike will use both PAS and throttle.

How to Disable throttle on Ebike? (Hardware Method)

In this part, we will explain how to disable throttle using ebike hardware.

Method 1 : Disconnect the throttle plug.

This method is considered the easiest. All you have to do is disconnect the throttle cable, and then it will stop.

The location of the throttle cable is the wire connected to the throttle on one side and to the controller on the other

Method 2: using brake to disable the throttle.

1-Turn on the bike’s power and wait for the instrument panel to light up.

2-Twist the throttle all the way to the end.

3-While holding the throttle in that position, gently squeeze the brake lever on the handlebar.

4-Keep the brake lever squeezed and wait for the instrument panel to show the error code “04”.

5-Continue to hold the brake lever and throttle for at least 10 seconds.

6-Release the brake lever and the throttle.
